Romeo Santos

Romeo Santos is an American singer, songwriter and producer. He has won several awards throughout his career, including Latin Grammy Awards for Best Tropical Song and Best Tropical Album; Billboard Latin Music Awards For Tropical Album of the Year and Latin Pop Album of the Year; and ASCAP Awards for Songwriter of the Year and Tropical Song of the Year. He has sold over 2 million albums worldwide.

Born Anthony Santos to a Dominican father and a Puerto Rican mother in the Bronx, New York, Santos developed a passion for music and singing at a young age. His main influence was his father, a well-known singer in the Dominican Republic, before he relocated to America. Romeo spent his early years at gigs with his father and gained early exposure to the music industry.

Romeo Santos had a turbulent childhood, and his parent’s divorce led to financial difficulties in the family. However, these experiences influenced his music, reflecting the struggles of everyday life, heartbreak and love.

Santos studied at the High School of Music and Arts to develop his craft, and it was during this time that he formed a band called “Aventura” with his cousin Henry Santos and friends Lenny and Max Santos. The group began performing in local venues and soon gained popularity in the Dominican and Latin American communities. After the disbandment of the group, Santos embarked on a solo career and signed with Sony Music Latin in 2011.

Santos currently lives in Los Angeles, California, and has three children.
